Super kids in a Magical Preschool!

This week before spring break we thought we would have some fun with super heroes and Disney!  The week was full of Paw Patrol and PJ Pals, Batman, Cinderella, Mickey, Minnie and Superman!  Whew!  It was quite the week!
We wrote words and letters associated with the Disney movie Frozen to start off the week.
Then we learned about Moana's magical necklace and worked our fingers for more fine motor time with clay to roll it into a long snake and then curve it into a swirl.  The teachers helped poke a hole for the string then we set the clay out to dry overnight so we could take them home the next preschool day.

We beat time with Mickey Mouse and his magic broomsticks to the sounds of the movie Fantasia before we got to work making dot art on words associated with Mickey Mouse and Friends.
We decided to make magic apples like the Evil Queen in Snow White and watched them foam and boil over using baking soda and vinegar.

Some of our reading activities this week consisted of matching upper and lower case letters with one another by using images on the cards to listen for the first sound of famous character names.
The teachers knew the children would love this game so they made enough for everyone to take their game home and practice matching letters over spring break.

We worked on making our superhero capes and made all kinds of designs unique to each child.  Then, we wore our capes through a superhero obstacle course to head off to save the day!

Our Paw patrol badges refreshed our memories for reading skills and then it was back to making masks, shooting off straw rockets to help our heroes fly and more!
This was a week filled with enough fun to hopefully last at home on our week away for spring break.  We hope you all have an amazing week and will see you back again April 1st for Under the Sea Week!

What's Coming Up?

  • We hope everyone enjoys their week off for spring break and are able to play outside and have a few adventures this coming week.
  • The morning preschool session is almost full but there are still plenty of spots available in the afternoon session for next year.  Please feel free to email me over spring break with any questions about registration and pass along our website link so people have access to our registration documents and policies.
  • When we get back from spring break we will be talking about all things Under the Sea!

Luck of the Pirates!

This was another terrifically lucky week in preschool.  We learned about St. Patrick's Day and all the special things that go with it; like clovers and rainbows and leprechauns.
We even had a special guest in our classroom all week who often skipped about the room when we weren't looking in order to keep us on our toes!
We worked on making shamrocks and lucky clovers a lot this week in a variety of ways from using our fingers to our whole hands to green peppers!

We searched for gold and learned the colors a leprechaun enjoys best; gold and green!

We hope you enjoy the pictures from this week and can spot the lucky leprechaun in some of the pictures in the background!  Enjoy the weekend and we will see you Monday!

After singing some leprechaun dancing songs we built traps to try to catch our guest: no luck but boy were they creative.

The lucky shamrock file folder game was a hit this week!  We hope you check out more games like this by searching for file folder games online.  You will be amazed at how easy these are to put together by finding some you think are cute and hitting print!  Some will teach various math skills and others will teach pre-reading skills.

After making binoculars to help us see leprechauns in the room, we searched and sorted items to math up only yellow to find as much gold at the tables as possible.  We worked on finding out which coins sank and which ones would float in our bins of water before sorting colored cereal into rainbow streaks.

For some preschool reading practice we sorted coins into pots labeled letters or numbers.

Science was fun this week with fizzing shamrocks!  We painted some 'magical' paint onto some paper shamrocks and then sprayed them with 'magic' spray to reveal color changing fizz!

After making our own rainbows on clouds by attaching items that are only found in the rainbow we used hand prints this week to make a rainbow to hang up in our classroom.

Our lucky little preschoolers have brought enough luck for us to know the times for morning preschool next year.  At this time we are still waiting to find out what times our afternoon session will run however if you are interested in our morning session next year which will run the same times as this year you can look for the registration email later tonight to complete the registration paperwork.
New preschoolers to our program will need to complete the forms we email out tonight along with the $200 semester tuition and copies of a birth certificate, physical and immunization record.
Current preschoolers will only need to bring the payment since we have all of your paperwork on file.

 What's Coming Up?
