Preschool is grrrreat!

Every day in preschool is a great day but this week we had a ton of fun learning about animals from all parts of the world.  From lions to tigers to puppies oh my we learned how to care for animals, what they eat and where they live.

Besides painting lions, we matched various amounts of animals to the numbers of them as a table game before hearing a silly story about an, Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.
You have probably noticed by now that we have a lot of shaving cream in preschool as we photograph with it each week.  We use this as not only a fine motor tool but one to work on writing and creating art with it as well.

We do occasionally work with slime and Orbees as well for other science activities and fine motor skill building and hope you try any of these fun activities at home as well.

As we talked about animals this week we learned about the footprints they leave behind and made some animal tracks of our own!  After that we rescued some animals frozen in ice by using our muscles and science!  If you have room in your freezer, a plastic bowl and some little toy animals freeze them in a bowl of water and let your kiddos come up with ways to defrost them and free them once again!

We fed a variety of animals during math this week as we had to read numbers and find the correct food to feed the animals using tweezers in order to safely feed the wild beasts!

We took care of wild animals by pretending to be vets and zoologists as we washed our animals, brushed their teeth and gave them a quick check up.  We also played a game the children all tend to enjoy using monkeys and magnets!

We enjoyed building some bridges and homes and zoos for our little animals this week to work on our engineering skills and creativity!  Popsicle sticks, paper cups and little toys are all you need for lots of fun!
